The Enrica and Romeo Invernizzi Foundation was established in the early 1990s by the will of Cavaliere del Lavoro Romeo Invernizzi, one of the most brilliant and innovative entrepreneurs in the Italian food industry, and his wife Enrica Pessina, a constant presence in Milan’s social life, to provide a reference point in Lombard scientific research and promote progress and societal well-being through knowledge.<\/p>

By statute, the Foundation has always supported initiatives in the fields of Economics, Food Sciences, and Medicine and Surgery.<\/p>

The Invernizzi Prize, established in 1994, has honored some of the most prominent Italian figures in the international scientific landscape.<\/p>

Before their passing, the Founders decided in 2004 to donate their entire estate to the cause of their Foundation, further strengthening its resources and capabilities.<\/p>

Today, the Foundation continues its mission guided by an independent and apolitical Council, composed of distinguished figures from the worlds of culture, the professions, entrepreneurship, and the Italian scientific community.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Collaboration with three major Milanese universities (State University, Catholic University, and Bocconi University) has led over the years to funding numerous research projects and supporting the work of internationally renowned researchers.<\/p>

In 2013, the permanent Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi Foundation Chair in Development Economics was established at Luigi Bocconi University, while in 2016 ICRIO – The Invernizzi Center for Research on Innovation, Organization, Strategy and Entrepreneurship was named after the Foundation.<\/p>

Also in 2016, LEAP \u2013 Laboratory for Effective Anti-poverty Policies was launched. At the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, a multi-year project was developed on the production and use of food in a sufficient, safe, and sustainable manner, which also involved the creation of pilot centers in India (Darenchigre) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (Kabinda). <\/p>

In the early 2000s, the Founders made a significant donation for the construction of an entire pavilion dedicated to advanced medical research within the Milan Polyclinic, a pavilion that now houses the Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi Institute of Molecular Genetics.<\/p>

The monumental complex of Villa di Trenzanesio, a protected property by state decree since the early twentieth century to safeguard its historical, architectural, and landscape value, represents the Foundation’s environmental commitment, which maintains approximately 800 hectares of agricultural land in the immediate vicinity of the city of Milan.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
